इक्कीसवीं सदी की सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म कौन-सी है? इस सवाल का जवाब बीबीसी ने ढूंढ़ने की कोशिश की है। बीबीसी के मुताबिक, इसके लिए उसने फिल्म समीक्षकों से पूछा कि वे 21 वीं सदी की सबसे बेहतरीन को लेकर क्या सोचते हैं।

पहले 100 फिल्मों को समीक्षकों के रेटिंग के आधार पर जारी किया गया। बीबीसी के अनुसार, उसने 21वीं सदी की फिल्मों को लेकर 177 फिल्म समीक्षकों का साक्षात्कार किया। इसमें 42 विभिन्न भाषाओं में बनी 599 फिल्मों की सूची तैयार की।
